Tropical storm warnings up for some Islands in Caribbean

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Tropical storm warnings are up for parts of the Windward Islands in the eastern Caribbean tonight. It now looks likely that a tropical disturbance will turn into tropical storm Bonnie in the next 24 hours as it moves west at 10-20 mph. Driver crashes into Camp Bow Wow doggie daycare center

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -A daycare owner is picking up the pieces after a car plowed into the side of the building early Sunday morning. Sarasota Police have taken Luis Vargas Romero, 24, into custody for allegedly driving into the Camp Bow Wow doggie daycare center on 17th Street. No one was hurt since the center has been closed for construction for the past several months, but the owner is looking at serious damages with shattered glass, broken gutters and severe wall damage.

Florida man drowns while rescuing girl at Porter Beach

A Florida man drowned Monday morning while saving a girl's life at Porter Beach. Indiana Conservation Officers say Thomas Kenning, 38, of St. Petersburg was visiting family when he saw a girl struggling in Lake Michigan. Officers say Kenning was able to help her to safety, before he himself went under the water and didn't resurface.

DNR: Florida man dies trying to save teen in Lake Michigan

PORTER, Ind. (AP) — Indiana conservation officers say lifeguards have recovered the body of a Florida man after he tried to save the life of a teenager. They say 38-year-old Thomas Kenning of St. Petersburg, Florida, was at Porter Beach on Monday when he saw a female in distress in Lake Michigan. Officers say Indiana Dunes State Park lifeguards arrived at the scene a short time later and they pulled Kenning from the water, officers said he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
