DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) — Three teenagers died in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning, KCRG reports. Iowa State Patrol said it happened at about 1:21 a.m. when the driver of a 2014 Chevy Camaro, William Wodrich, 18, of Dubuque, was heading southbound on NW Arterial at a high rate of speed.

Dubuque Accident Takes 3 Teenage Lives

(Dubuque, IA) — Three eastern Iowa teenagers have died in a rollover accident that happened early Friday morning. The Iowa State Patrol reports that 18-year-old William Wodrich the Fourth of Dubuque was driving a Chevy Camaro at a high rate of speed when he lost control entered a ditch, and his vehicle rolled. The accident happened at about 1:20 a-m on the city’s northwest side. Wodrich was killed along with two passengers – Kennedy Elskamp and Chloe Lucas, both 17 and both from Dubuque.

According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, the incident occurred about 1:21 a.m. Friday on Northwest Arterial (Iowa Highway 32) near W. 32nd Street in Dubuque.

Dubuque Man Charged With Assaulting Two Women

Dubuque police arrested 54 year old John Greene of Dubuque Tuesday at his residence on charges of assault and false imprisonment, as well as warrants charging domestic assault with injury, two counts of violation of a protective order and driving while barred. According to a report, Greene assaulted 55 year old Kisti Thrasher of Dubuque on Tuesday and 40 year old Amy Nauman of Dubuque on June 19th.

Dubuque Man Gets 40 Years in Prison For Crimes Against Infant and 2 Girls

A Dubuque man was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison for a violent attack on an infant left in his care, as well as sex crimes against two girls. 20 year old Nicholas Beversdorf of Dubuque was sentenced in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to six counts of child endangerment causing bodily injury and one count each of third-degree sexual abuse and indecent contact with a child. A report says police spoke with Ashley Gregory of Dubuque who reported finding injuries on her then-1-year-old daughter after the infant was in Beversdorf’s care for a little more than two hours on August 20th. Following the news about the infant attack, which injured the infant, two girls who were then younger than 15 reported that they were the victims of sexual crimes committed by Beversdorf.

Lawsuits filed days after deadly Missouri Amtrak crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The first lawsuits have been filed following an Amtrak train collision and derailment in rural Missouri that killed four people and injured up to 150 others. Surviving passenger Janet Williams of Dubuque, Iowa, filed a federal lawsuit Friday naming Amtrak, BNSF Railway and MS Contracting, the employer of the dump truck driver who died when his vehicle was struck. The complaint alleges negligent design of the railroad crossing, and says the train was packed with too many riders. The Kansas City Star reports that Amtrak and BNSF sued MS Contracting Thursday, saying the train was “clearly visible.” Truck driver Billy Barton II died in the collision, along with three passengers. Barton’s widow sued Chariton County and a BNSF official on Thursday.

City of Dubuque Offices and Services Altered For 4th of July

City of Dubuque offices will be closed and some municipal services will be affected because of the Independence Day holiday. City offices will be closed on Monday, that includes City Hall. The first City Council meeting of the month will be held Tuesday, rather than on Monday. A work session will occur at 5:30 p.m. prior to the regular meeting at the Historic Federal Building. Refuse, yard debris and curbside recycling will not be collected Monday. Those collections will be made on Saturday, July 2nd. The Dubuque Metro Landfill will be closed Monday. The Flora Swimming Pool will be open on Monday from noon to 1 p.m. for adult swimming and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. for open swimming. Morning adult swimming and all lessons are canceled. Dubuque’s public transit system, The Jule, will not operate Monday, including the Flora Pool shuttle.
