Samsung picks Indiana over Illinois for battery plant

BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — Disappointment in the twin cities following an electric vehicle battery manufacturer choosing to not locate in the area. Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep and Chrysler as well as its partner Samsung announced the location for their joint operation on a $2.5 billion electric vehicle (EV) battery plant will be in Kokomo, Indiana.

Shallenberger named interim PBL High School principal

PAXTON — The Paxton-Buckley-Loda school board approved the hiring of Tom Shallenberger as interim high school principal during a special meeting Thursday night. Shallenberger will work up to 15 days as PBL High School’s interim principal prior to July 1, when Principal Travis Duley leaves his position to become the school district’s associate superintendent. Shallenberger will then work 120 days during the 2022-23 school year at a salary of $60,000.

(Heart of Illinois ABC) - Thursday brought us regional semifinal action in Class 3A baseball. Big 12 champion Bloomington got their postseason run off to a good start with a 6-0 win over Danville. Brady Alexander tossed a complete game shutout for the Purple Raiders. Normal West’s regional semifinal against Champaign Central got moved from their home turf to Illinois Wesleyan and got moved back four hours but it didn’t stop the Wildcats from starting well. They put up four runs in the first inning on the power of a Sam DesCarpentrie grand slam. Normal West did, however, lose the ball game 6-5 thanks to a seventh-inning rally from Champaign Central.
