Area leaders recently attended the grand opening of Pare Corporation’s third office in the region on Bobala Road in Holyoke. State Rep. Mary Jane Kier, 79, of Madrid, passed away June 24, 2022, at the Imperial Manor in Imperial, Nebraska. Mary was born Sept. 14, 1942, to Joseph and Francis (Wright) Yost. Because Mary’s father was a mail carrier, the family moved frequently following his work. She attended school primarily in McCook.

Private graveside services were held June 14 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, at First Christian Church in Holyoke. Baucke Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Robert Wayne Bartels was born Sept. 12, 1934, at home on the family farm near Wauneta, Nebraska, to Anna Louise (Roschewski) and Arnold Henry Bartels. He was the first born with his twin brother Richard. Bob grew up near Wauneta and graduated from Wauneta High School with the class of 1952.
