One woman is dead and her husband is in a trauma center after the couple was found in their home during a welfare check, according to the Chatham Police Department. Police arrived at the home, located in the 200 block of Catalpa Drive at about 10 p.m. June 29, where they found the deceased body of Judy Boswell. Also located in the home was Kenneth Boswell, Judy's husband. Kenneth Boswell was air-lifted to a trauma center where he remains.

In Danville Circuit Court Friday, Jaivon Scott pleaded guilty to malicious wounding, plus two separate firearms charges. DANVILLE, Va. — A Virginia man was sentenced to seven years in prison for shooting a store clerk in the back of the head one year ago. The Danville Register & Bee reports Jaivon Alonzo Scott was sentenced by a judge on Friday to 18 years — with 11 suspended — for malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a non-violent felon and use of a firearm during commission of a felony.
