Lightning blamed for duplex fire in southwest Manhattan

Storms are being blamed for causing another structure fire this week in Manhattan. The Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched around 12:30 this morning to 320 Rosewalk Place, in southwest Manhattan. Upon arrival, fire was discovered on the exterior gable above the garage. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and an investigation determined it was caused by a lightning strike.

Woman arrested for theft, obstruction outside Manhattan Taco Bell

Riley County Police arrested a woman in Manhattan Wednesday after she is alleged to have attempted to drive off with a vehicle parked at the west side Taco Bell. 36-year-old Andrea Freeman was taken into custody after 7 p.m. Wednesday outside of the Taco Bell on Westport. She’s been charged with two counts of theft of property as well as obstruction and criminal trespassing. The car was ultimately returned to the owner.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Nobody was injured in a Manhattan duplex fire early Friday morning. Just before 12:30 a.m. Friday the Manhattan Fire Department was called to 320 and 326 Rosewalk Place on reports of a structure fire. When they arrived, they found a single-story duplex with flames coming from the garage’s exterior gable.
