Plane Crash Reported in Anoka County

Lino Lakes, MN (KROC-AM News) - Anoka county officials say the pilot of an ultra-light plane escaped with only minor injuries following a crash this morning. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says deputies, along with Lino Lakes Police Officers and firefighters responded shortly after 9 AM to reports of a plane crash. A news release says it appears the pilot was taking the aircraft for a test flight when he lost power and crashed.

Soccer team holding up despite adversity

It has been a challenging season for the Osceola Chieftain soccer team. When their spring roster came to the forefront the biggest challenge was obvious. There just were not enough available players to put together a string of wins. Osceola began their season with 12 healthy athletes and hoped that they could live with the numbers. Now, as the season nears the end they have been playing with as few as nine. It is pretty tough under any circumstance but to be playing with two less athletes than your opponent for a full 90 minutes is troublesome.

Child hospitalized after drowning in Ham Like

A child is fighting for their life following a drowning incident in Anoka County, continuing a dangerous trend of water accidents involving children across the state. Per the local sheriff, "early indications show that the juvenile was found unresponsive" at a pond in Lions Park, which is located in the city of Ham Lake.

Three possible drownings in separate incidents on Saturday

Authorities responded to reports of three possible drownings Saturday from a boat launch on Marine on St. Croix to a pond at a park in Ham Lake to the quarry at Waite Park. About 4:30 p.m, a swimmer who was last seen 30 feet offshore from a boat ramp at William O’Brien State Park on Saturday afternoon appears to have drowned, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office’s Twitter account.
