Saginaw man identified as victim of Montcalm County drowning

MONTCALM COUNTY, MI -- A 22-year-old Saginaw man died Saturday, June 25 in a drowning on Cyrstal Lake in Montcalm County. Police identified the victim as Daiton Vinson-Sharp. Montcalm County sheriff’s deputies responded to the lake, east of Stanton, about 6:55 p.m. Saturday after Vinson-Sharp went missing. He had been with friends, about 100 yards off shore on a sand bar.

Midland City Council hears first readings of proposed sewer, water rates

Midland residents and businesses will see water and sewer bills increase in the coming years. James Bearman, a consultant hired to conduct the rate study, said the last time the City of Midland conducted a water/sewer rate study was in 1993. This study was conducted to see how much money the water and wastewater departments needed to sustain their operations. The 2022-23 fiscal year city budget, the city’s five-year Capital improvement Plan, and Concept Five project costs were all considered when conducting the rate study, Bearman said.
