While NFL news never seems to stop, it might ramp up a bit this week for Seattle as voluntary organized team activities (OTAs) begin this week. There won’t be much on-field action – no one is getting tackled – but just having players in the building should have some nuggets of information.

Mariners lose to the A’s, 7-5, which is fine, actually

The other day I was in a small fender bender with another car at the gas station. I was immediately frustrated; I had been distracted in the moment by forces beyond my control, didn’t do a full re-sweep behind me after the distraction, and bumped into a car that had, unbeknownst to me, drawn up into my blind spot in the interim, waiting for a spot at one of the pumps to open. Immediately, I was livid; it was the latest frustration in what had been an exhausting, frustrating day, and this felt like the last straw. You know in Inside Out, when Anger’s head lights on fire? That’s what it felt like.

Seattle Mariners taking chance on Justin Upton

It was a matter of time until Justin Upton found a new home. The former Angels’ outfielder had generated some interest on the trade front before he was released, but he refused to waive his no-trade clause unless he was heading to a contender. Otherwise, he was content to sit home, collect his paycheck, and wait for the right situation.
