Crash On Route 11 Leaves One Man Deceased

T-9, R-5, Maine (WAGM) - Just before 4:00 a.m. this morning, a passerby reported a pickup rollover crash on Route 11 in T-9, R-5. According to State Police, a male subject identified as Ray Parks of Winterville Plantation was the operator and single occupant of a 2008 Chevy Silverado. Parks was found deceased at the scene. Upon investigation, Parks had lost control of the vehicle, driving down into an embankment and rolling the vehicle onto its roof onto the roadway of Route 11. State Police say Parks was ejected from the vehicle and died on impact.

Northern Maine Medical Center’s Expansion Brings First Major Upgrade Since 1950′s

FORT KENT, Maine (WAGM) -A much needed update, that’s how some of the nurses at the Northern Maine Medical Center are describing the newly completed expansion project. A modernized Operating Room Suite, Gymnasium in the Child Psychology Unit, and a larger cafeteria are some of the features that make up the nearly 16,000 square foot expansion to NMMC. The $16 Million project was funded from a number of sources including Bonds, Grants, and a capital campaign, which was the first capital campaign the hospital has held since it was built in the 1950′s. Peter Sirois the Outgoing CEO of Northern Maine Medical Center says these renovations and the expansion are long overdue. He adds they faced many challenges along the way.

UMFK nursing student honored with award

FORT KENT, Maine – The University of Maine at Fort Kent is pleased to announce that nursing student Irene Neal was recently honored by Maine Campus Compact on April 28 at its 21st annual Awards Ceremony. Neal was awarded the Heart and Soul Award which recognizes outstanding work in public service and civic engagement by Maine faculty, students, and community and corporate partners.

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - Good Wednesday evening, everyone!. We reached our first 80′s of the season today -- with western spots in the North Woods getting above the 80-degree mark. Estcourt Station came in at 84-degrees for their daytime high, while Clayton Lake reached 81-degrees today. Caribou, even tied a daily-high temperature record of 79-degrees, also previously set back in 2001.

This Maine Town Saw Temps Below Freezing, Ended the Day With a High of 83

A northern Maine town had a frosty start to the day, but temps rebounded big time. Spring in Maine can be a rollercoaster of up and down temps. The northernmost town in Maine, Estcourt Station, saw a big swing in temperatures on Wednesday, May 11. According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, temps bottomed-out at 27.5 degrees, before rebounding to a high of 83.8. The math comes-out to an impressive 56.3 degree swing in temps within a 24 hour period.

Fort Kent baseball rolls to victory over Madawaska

MADAWASKA, Maine — The Madawaska baseball team faced a tough opponent in visiting Fort Kent on the Owls’ home turf Saturday, May 7. With a final score of 14-1, Fort Kent claimed its third win of the season. The Warriors now have three wins and one loss under their belt, while the Owls now sit evenly at two wins and two losses.

UMFK athletes win 2022 Track and Field National Championships

FORT KENT, Maine — Just five years in the making, the University of Maine at Fort Kent track and field teams have already taken home national championships. The Bengals won the 2022 USCAA Track & Field National Championships on both the men’s and the women’s side at the national competition that took place Saturday, April 30, in Albany, New York.
