Man in critical condition after being struck by hit-and-run driver in Anaheim

A hit-and-run investigation was underway in Anaheim Tuesday morning, after the driver of an unknown vehicle hit a man in the road and fled from the area. The crash was reported at 12:55 a.m., near Tustin Avenue and the 91 Freeway. Anaheim Police Department officers dispatched to the scene found the man lying in the roadway, suffering from "injuries consistent with being hit by a car," as detailed by Sgt. Shane Carringer. The victim was rushed to a hospital where he was said to be in critical condition. There was no information on the suspect or their vehicle readily available as officers continued to investigate the scene.

LASD investigating fatal shooting in Norwalk

Authorities were investigating a fatal shooting that happened in Norwalk late Monday evening. The shooting was reported at around 10:55 p.m. on Maidstone Avenue. When Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies arrived, they found one person lying in the street suffering from several gunshot wounds. First responders with Los Angeles County Fire Department attempted life-saving measures on the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim, who has yet to be identified pending notification of next of kin, was reported to be between 35 and 40-years-old. Investigators were unsure if the shooting was gang-related. Anyone with information about this shooting was asked to call  the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

A former cargo handler was sentenced to a year in prison for stealing gold bars that had passed through LAX on its way from Australia to New York.Marlon Moody, 39, of South Los Angeles, was sentenced Monday to 12 months in federal prison and ordered to pay a fine of $7,500. He and a co-defendant, 36-year-old Brian Benson, also of South Los Angeles, pleaded guilty last summer to one count of conspiracy to commit theft of an interstate or foreign shipment.
