Robert Wagner, age 89

Robert N. Wagner, age 89 years, of La Crosse, Kansas passed away on Saturday morning, May 7, 2022 at Locust Grove Village Care Center in La Crosse. Robert was born on July 7, 1932 at La Crosse, Kansas to Adam and Dorothy (Seuser) Wagner. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. Robert was an educator and taught at Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kansas for many years where he developed the Auto Mechanics Program. He enjoyed his farm property, was devoted to his faith and loved to be outdoors. Additional hobbies he enjoyed were photography, reading, woodworking, and building model boats and planes.

2 Kan. men injured after car delivering mail involved in crash

BARTON COUNTY—Two people were injured in an accident involving a mail delivery car just after 11a.m. Wednesday in Barton County. According to the sheriff's office, a 1994 Jeep driven by Ronald D. Hanhardt, 71 of Otis, was northbound on NE 70th Avenue and failed to yield right-of-way to a 2001 Dodge passenger car operated by Preston L McCord, age 18 of Ellinwood, at E. Barton County Road.

Suspect leads Kan. deputies on 120 mph chase across 2 counties

BARTON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man on multiple charges after a high-speed chase. Just before 10a.m. Wednesday, a Sheriff’s Detective came in contact with a 2002 Honda Civic and driver that were wanted for outstanding felony warrants and fleeing from at least two other local law enforcement agencies, according to Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir.

Danna Jean was born September 28, 1928, in Sylvan Grove, Kansas to parents Hilda and Ray Ulrich. She was the oldest of four children with siblings Darrel, Wanda, and Dee. She grew up in Kansas living in Sylvan Grove, Lincoln, and Ellsworth. It was at Ellsworth in the Senior High School that she met Donald McCracken, who became her husband and best friend.
