The town has a population of about 600 and a slogan that says "Little city with a big heart". The last time a flood happened in this town was back in 1972. Residents reported that the small town received over 13 inches of rain in a single day back then, however official precipitation data does not exist for it.

DETROIT LAKES — A total of 23 school board and 11 municipal seats across the Detroit Lakes, Perham and Wadena area will be on the ballot this November. Candidate filing for these local offices, included in the 2022 election, will open on Aug. 2 and will close two weeks later, at 5 p.m. on Aug. 16. Prospective candidates will need to provide proof of address, complete the registration materials and pay a filing fee of up to $5, said one city official. But, these elected positions may not always be what potential candidates have in mind when they decide to run for office, multiple school board and city officials said.

Teen suffers life-threatening injuries in bicycle crash with pick-up truck

(Wadena, MN)--A bicyclist reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash with a pick-up truck. According to the report, a Chevy pick-up truck, driven by Andrea Winter Pearson, 39, of Sabin, was traveling westbound on Highway 10 in Wadena. The Chevy proceeded through a green light while a bicycle, driven by Jack Windels, 16, of Detroit Lakes, reportedly ran into the side of the Chevy.
