Loss of boat launch upsets residents near Little Bradford Lake

GAYLORD — Otsego County commissioners heard from residents upset with the loss of an unofficial boat launch site on Little Bradford Lake in Waters. At Tuesday's board of commissioners meeting, residents complained after a project from the Otsego County Road Commission on Passenheim Road made it almost impossible to launch watercraft near a curve in the road that borders the lake.

The 2022 TEXSOM International Wine Competition has bestowed 57 awards to 14 Traverse City area wineries, including three that won the top Judges’ Selection Award. Based out of Texas, the TEXSOM Awards received more than 2,000 entries from 24 countries that included France, Italy, and Argentina. Entries were presented to 40 judges in blind taste tests.

TC Light & Power Prepares For Citywide Fiber Expansion, New Service Center That Will Take Over Jewelry Store

With the first payment from a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) loan set to be released in August or September, Traverse City Light & Power (TCLP) is preparing to embark on an $18.2 million project to build out the rest of its citywide fiber network and create a city smart grid. Engineering and initial construction will follow the release of funds this fall and winter, with the goal of offering the next wave of customer hookups in April. As part of the project, TCLP is taking back over its building at 130 Hall Street to open a downtown customer service center – a move that will force current tenant Gold & Jaye Jewelry to vacate its space next year.
