Flooding Update: Parts of Highway 10 Reopening

BAXTER -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation is reopening a section of Highway 10 that had been closed due to flooding. As of Saturday afternoon, officials say one lane of eastbound Highway 10 between Motley and Little Falls has reopened to traffic. Westbound Highway 10 in that same stretch remains closed for the time being.

Roads closed due to flooding after storms in central Minnesota

Repeated rounds of thunderstorms late Thursday and early Friday brought flooding rain to parts of central Minnesota, along with hail and high winds. The National Weather Service relayed a report from law enforcement officials on Friday morning "that the Little Elk River is flooding in the town of Randall. Some residences are being evacuated ... due to the flooding."

Rainfall Totals from Around the St. Cloud Metro Area

ST. CLOUD -- Some eye-popping rain totals are coming in from overnight. The Minnesota Climatology Office says the highest total they've seen so far is 7.4 inches of rain in Randall. Weather observes say 5.93 inches of rain fell northwest of Sartell, there are reports of 5.50 and 4.86 inches both from Sauk Rapids, 4.61 inches in St. Joseph, and 4.20 inches in St. Cloud.

Heavy Rain Overnight Causes Flooding Around St. Cloud Metro

ST. CLOUD -- After several inches of rain fell overnight, there is a lot of street flooding in the St. Cloud metro area. The National Weather Service says St. Cloud officially had .79 inches of rain up until midnight on Thursday. They say we've had an additional 3.32 inches of rain since midnight (as of 6:00 a.m.) for a total of 4.11 inches of rain officially at the St. Cloud Regional Airport.

St. Cloud Celebrates Granite City Days With Parade [PHOTOS]

ST. CLOUD -- The city-wide summer celebration in St. Cloud continued Saturday with the annual Granite City Days Parade. This year’s route weaved through downtown from St. Cloud Hospital to the St. Cloud Public Library. Local businesses, schools, and organizations of all kinds gathered for nearly two hours of free family fun. Six marching bands performed from central Minnesota and beyond.

Flash Flood Watch Issued for St. Cloud Area

(KNSI) – The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Central Minnesota. The watch is in effect from 10 p.m. Friday through Saturday Morning in Benton, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Sherburne, Stearns and Todd County. The watch includes the cities of St Cloud, Cambridge, Sauk Rapids, Princeton, Little Falls, Long Prairie, Mora, and Elk River.

BCA: St. Cloud Officer Involved in Shooting Standoff Suspect

(KNSI) — A St. Cloud Police Officer and a Wright County Deputy are under investigation after an officer-involved shooting connected to a barricaded suspect in St. Michael. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says the first shooting happened at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday night involving a Wright County sheriff’s deputy. The BCA says the deputy fired an unknown number of rounds and nobody was hit. The second happened at 8:30 Wednesday night when investigators say “an armed confrontation” ensued as police went into 39-year-old Brandon Gardas’s home to arrest him. It was reported that Gardas fired at law enforcement officers more than once during the standoff. Gardas was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital where he was reported to be “awake and alert,” according to the BCA.

The Minnesota Twins and St. Cloud Rox both started their weekends off with losses, but each team will get another chance on Saturday. - The Twins dropped the series opener 1-0 to Colorado at Target Field on Friday.
