Baxter Springs drug raid ends in 4 arrests

BAXTER SPRINGS, Kans. — A months-long investigation into a drug distribution and possession operation in Baxter Springs resulted in four arrests Thursday. Early in the afternoon on June 30th, Baxter Springs Police and deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at 2400 Lincoln Ave., according to a Facebook post by BSPD.

Avilla man arrested for DWI after crash involving a deputy vehicle

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. – An alleged drunk driver hits two vehicles on Highway 96 in Jasper County, including a deputy’s vehicle. The crash happened yesterday, June 30, around 4:00 pm. According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was one of three vehicles involved in the crash near County Road 118 and State Highway 96, east of Carthage.

She was born March 2, 1931, in Cato, Kansas, the daughter of Wesley Curtis and Leona Florence (Coonrod) James. She married Jack Herbert Garrett August 26, 1950, in Arcadia, Kansas, and he preceded her in death January 7, 2001.

City-wide bulky item pick up scheduled for July 18

PITTSBURG, KS – The City of Pittsburg will conduct a bulky item pick up on Monday, July 18. Residents inside the Pittsburg city limits can register to participate. City staff will disperse across eight zones in the city and collect bulky items. Residents must sign up by before 5:00 pm Thursday, July 14 in order to participate. Miller man killed after crash in Diamond
