Michigan man sentenced to jail, probation after threatening to decapitate judge

OTSEGO COUNTY, Mich. (FOX 2) - A Michigan man will spend time in jail after authorities say he threatened to decapitate a judge and challenged him to a duel. Jonathan Brisson, 32, of Vanderbilt, was sentenced this week to 12 months in jail with credit for 100 days time served, and two years of probation. He also cannot have contact with Otsego County Circuit Court Chief Judge Colin G. Hunter, and must undergo mental health treatment.

Three Mackinaw City Hotels Accused of Tricking Guests Reach Settlement With Michigan

Three hotels in Mackinaw City accused of tricking guests into booking rooms at closed establishments have reached a settlement with the Michigan Attorney General's office. In February of this year, the Lieghio family, which owns several hotel properties in Northern Michigan, was accused of pulling a basic bait and switch maneuver. Patrons were essentially tricked into booking rooms at hotels that were advertised online, but then upon arrival were forced into rooms at other hotels, sometimes with fewer amenities.

(CBS DETROIT) – A man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to making death threats against an Ostego County judge, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Thursday. Jonathan Brisson, 32, of Vanderbilt was charged in January with communicating a false threat of terrorism, a 20-year felony, after threatening Otsego County Circuit Court Chief Judge Colin G. Hunter via Facebook. He pleaded guilty to this charge in March. On Tuesday, June 28, Brisson was sentenced to two years in prison, mental health treatment, and he was ordered to have no contact with the victim. “My office will continue to aggressively pursue threats against public officials,” Nessel said. “Those who would threaten violence against office holders must know there are real consequences for their actions.” Officials released that the sentence also includes 12 months in jail with credit for 100 days served and the balance suspended. © 2022 CBS Broadcasting Inc.
