AITKIN CO., MN-- A Swatara, MN man will serve nearly 25 years in prison for the murder of a woman back in 2019. Joshua Karjala was arrested in 2019 for probation violation. Aitkin County authorities arrested Karjala on October 5, 2019 after they found a vehicle belonging to Michelle Mae on October 4.

Maplewood man charged with DWI after boating fatality in Aitkin County

A Maplewood man has been charged with driving while impaired following a boating death Friday night on Big Sandy Lake in north-central Minnesota. According to the criminal complaint filed Tuesday, Joshua Mark Harvey, 34, was driving a pontoon on the Aitkin County lake around 11:15 p.m. when Nathen Norman Waldo, 34, of North Branch, fell overboard. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office’s Rescue Squad found Waldo’s body Saturday afternoon.

McGREGOR — A 34-year-old North Branch man was killed in a boating incident Friday, June 11, on Big Sandy Lake near Hillcrest Resort, just north of McGregor. The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 11:40 p.m. of a man overboard on Big Sandy Lake. McGregor Fire Department and Aitkin County deputies responded with boats.
