Important Game Day Info for Monday’ GHSA Championship Series!

The Vidalia Indians will be making their first trip to the GHSA AA State Championship on Monday at Ga. Southern’s JI Clements Stadium. The series begins with a doubleheader on Monday at 5:00 PM. Game two will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. The if-necessary game would be played on Tuesday at Noon. Tickets are $15.00 per day and may be purchased by clicking HERE Gates will open at 4:00 PM. Concessions will be Cash and Card.

Wendy Smith-Arnoldy, Soperton

Wendy Smith-Arnoldy, age 53 of Soperton passed away on Wednesday afternoon, May 18, 2022 at her home. Born in San Antonio, Texas she was the daughter of the late Robert C. Smith and Irene Lumley Smith. With her father and mother's military careers the family relocated frequently before they ended up in Tatnall County where Wendy graduated from Reidsville High School in 1986. As a young adult, Wendy worked for Petsmart and rapidly advanced in the company to the position of Coordinator of New Store Openings throughout the United States, before starting with Orkin Pest Control in Augusta, GA. In the early 2000s, Wendy moved with her daughter to Vidalia and continued to work with Orkin, where she advanced to the position of General Manager for the State of Georgia before retiring after 12 years with the company. After retiring she attended Ashford University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Behavioral Science in 2014.

Indians Beat Lovett Punch Ticket To State Championship!

The Vidalia Indians and the Lovett Lions met Tuesday evening May 17 for Game 3 of the state semi-final series at Greg James Field. After splitting a double header on Monday this was the rubber match to see who would move on to face Thomasville for the 2A State Championship. Vidalia came out on top with a hard fought 5-4 win. The Indians will face Thomasville in a double header on Monday, May 23 at Georgia Southern University starting at 5:00. If a third game becomes necessary it will be played on Tuesday.

VHA Eagles Win Baseball State Championship!

Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles Baseball team swept Praise Academy in the State Championship on Friday, May 13, 2022. The Eagles won the first game 5-2. Eagles got the game going with a solo homer by Ledger Curl in the first inning. Hardy Franklin continued to get the ball rolling with a double off the first pitch that scored a run in the fifth inning. Senior Mason Beacham pitched the first game striking out nine. The Eagles did not commit a single error.

Bus Drivers Request More Pay

At the May meeting of the School Board, Ralph Brantley approached the members regarding certain concerns he and other bus drivers have brought to his attention. “I’m only here as a representative of the drivers,” Brantley prefaced his comments. He went on to say that the drivers requested that salaries be increased to $120 per day based on a five-hour day, and that compensation for special trips be raised. In addition, the drivers requested that bus monitors ride on all routes, and that bus etiquette be taught as part of the regular school curriculum.
