Marine Father Knows Best -Thomas Calabrese

Thomas Calabrese –The Granderson Family lived on Mayfield Lane in San Marcos. Jim Granderson retired from the Marine Corps after 27 years of distinguished service with the rank of Sergeant Major. He served in combat or in hostile environments all over the world for over half that time and had received the Silver Star twice, Bronze Star three times and was wounded five times as well as receiving a long list of commendations. He was highly skilled in hand to hand combat and various weapons. During one of his assignments at Camp Pendleton, Jim served as senior instructor for 1st Recon Battalion.

Attempted Murder – San Marcos Reward Offered for Arrest of Suspects.

The San Marcos Sheriff’s Station and San Diego Crime Stoppers want the public’s help in locating two suspects wanted for attempted murder in the North County. On April 19 around 5:00 p.m., 18-year-old Jose Gonzalez and 22-year-old Serafin Cervantes attacked and stabbed a 15-year-old victim in the 500 block of Rancho Santa Fe Road in San Marcos. The victim was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

This year, your Vista Firefighters are proud to celebrate one of our own – FF/PM Brent Nogle- as the guest of honor at our fifth annual Hop Highway event. Brent came to the City of Vista in 2011, having first served our country in the United States Army, and then going through a fire academy and paramedic school. Brent, his wife Diane, and his two boys are walking the all too familiar road of a cancer diagnosis and treatment plan. Brent would be the last person to think he needs or to even ask for help- but your Vista Firefighters would like to be the first to invite all of you to come out on July 10th and tilt a pint, spend some money on good people, and celebrate Brent and his family.
