Fort Madison man and woman arrested on multiple drug charges

Fort Madison, IA- The Lee County Narcotics Task Force has reported the arrest of a Fort Madison man and woman on felony and misdemeanor drug charges. 54-year-old Jerry Beames and 38-year-old Sherri Beames, both of Fort Madison, were both arrested Thursday, June 30th, in the 1700 block of 35th street in Fort Madison.

Two in Ft. Madison facing drug, child endangerment charges

FT. MADISON, Iowa (KHQA) — A man and woman from Fort Madison are facing drug related charges and a child endangerment charge. Jerry Beames, 54, and Sherri Beames, 38, were arrested on Thursday in the 1700 block of 35th St. in Fort Madison following the execution of a search warrant at the home by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force.

Warriors rock Falcons 16-4 in first round, sets up rematch with Bulldogs

The Van Buren County Warriors knocked the West Burlington Falcons 16-4 in first-round playoff action, setting the stage for a rematch with the Mediapolis Bulldogs next Tuesday. The Warriors opened up 2A District 11 play with a bang. After both teams went scoreless in the first inning. The Warriors had a big top of the second inning scoring four runs. The inning was highlighted with two-out RBIs from Lukas McEntee, Jackson Manning, Bailey Roen, and Taylor Sprouse. The Warriors lead after the second 4-0 after Manning sat the Falcons down in the second stranding two runners. The Warriors would explode again in the third inning scoring another six runs. The third inning was highlighted by a McEntee sacrifice fly RBI and a 2 RBI single from Taylor Sprouse to give the Warriors the 10-0 lead halfway through the third. Manning would again keep the Falcons scoreless while stranding two runners in the bottom of the third. The Warriors would be held scoreless in the fourth and the Falcons would score two to cut the lead to 10-2 after four. After a scoreless fifth the Warriors and the Falcons would again score two runs to cut the Warrior lead to 10-4. Both teams would be scoreless in the sixth. The Warriors would put the game away with six runs in the top of the seventh. The Warriors got RBIs in the inning from Lucas Fett (2), Tyler Stoltz (2), Bailey Roen (1), and Jackson Manning (1). Sprouse would strike out the side to secure the Warrior win 16-4.

Washington Softball Finish Season Sweep of Keokuk

It was a couple rebound victories on Thursday for the Washington softball team when they snapped a four game losing skid to sweep Keokuk for the second time this year. The middle innings of game one was kind to the Demon offense and they rolled to a 10-4 win. They finished with 10 hits led by a 3-for-4 performance from Leighton Salazar and the eighth grader also brought in three runs. Bella Salazar recorded a home run, collected two hits, and managed four RBI. She also tossed a complete game in the circle giving up three earned runs on five knocks and seven strikeouts. Trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning of the nightcap, Washington scored three times in each of the next three frames to capture a 9-3 win. The team added 11 hits with RyLee Fishback going 3-for-4 and four RBI while crossing the plate twice. Halle Cuddeback twirled all seven frames giving up one earned tally on four hits and striking out five.

Navigator CO2 pipeline meetings will discuss new route, including Lee County

DES MOINES — Iowa Utilities Board has scheduled another 13 public information meetings about a proposed carbon pipeline through Iowa. The meetings are to discuss Navigator’s proposal to build and operate a large-scale pipeline system that will capture and transport liquefied carbon dioxide from local facilities spanning about 1,300 miles across five Midwest states, including Iowa.
