Gaylesville Man Arrested on Drug Charges

A forty-one-year-old Gaylesville, Alabama man was arrested this week on drug charges after a traffic stop near Lyerly. On Tuesday night, a deputy sitting at the old Lucky’s Supermarket in Lyerly saw a blue Chevrolet car travelling northbound on the Lyerly Highway (GA 114) with no functioning tag light. When the deputy ran the tag number, it came back for a 1991 Chevrolet truck. The deputy initiated a traffic stop near Hamp Brewer Road.

Canton police make a startling find during a traffic stop for a cell phone infraction. Police said they discovered a kidnapped 13-year-old girl inside the vehicle and a 16-year-old girl behind the wheel of a stolen car. Investigators said that young teen was set to be trafficked to another state.

Georgia Power announced today a landmark coal ash beneficial use project at Plant Bowen near Cartersville, Georgia, where millions of tons of stored ash will be excavated for use in concrete to construct bridges, roads, and buildings in Georgia – and throughout the Southeast. The project will be the single largest beneficial use project of its kind in the U.S., and the largest ever for Georgia Power.
