Brother Saves Younger Sister From Fox Attack in New Jersey

A young girl in New Jersey was attacked by a fox but her brother was able to save her before the animal did serious damage. Young Lilleth Lawlor Nielsen was playing outside her home in Jackson Township on Saturday when the fox charged at her and started biting her. Her older brother, Matthew, says he heard her screaming and ran to the rescue.

Rescue crews were once again called Sunday to a Somerset County swimming hole that was the site of a drowning last week. This time they were able to save the victim around 7:00 p.m. on Cottage Lane in Paint Township. Crews say someone slipped up by the nearby bridge and waterfall and went into the water.

Teenager rescued from Paint Creek

A teenager was rescued from Paint Creek in Somerset County on Sunday near the swimming hole where a Pittsburgh man drowned last week, authorities said. Two teens were at the creek when one swam across, but was unable to get back across the creek, which was swollen by recent heavy rains, Scalp Level-Paint fire Chief Michael Horvath said.

Multiple fire crews were on the scene of a structure fire at a two-store complex on Resort Plaza Drive in Burrell Township. Indiana County 911 dispatched Black Lick, Blairsville, Indiana, Coral-Graceton, Coal Run/McIntyre and Armagh/East Wheatfield firefighters along with Derry Township fire fighters to the Advance Auto Parts store near Blairsville at 5:42 this morning. Fire crews reported heavy smoke and fire in the Advance Auto Parts side of the building. Homer City Fire Department has also been dispatched to standby for Black Lick fire crews.

One person hospitalized after two-vehicle crash in Croyle Township

One person was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash on state Route 53 in Croyle Township on Tuesday. A Tyrone company coal truck was turning onto the U.S. Route 219 ramp heading north to Ebensburg when it struck a blue Hyundai Elantra coming from South Fork on state Route 53 at 8:35 a.m., township police Chief Steve Parks said.
