HYDE PARK – A possible development into the case of a missing Hyde Park woman brought several State Police investigators to the grounds of Hyde Park Estates on Friday afternoon. Troopers have been actively trying to locate 48-year-old Bobbilyn Sturgess for more than two weeks and have been asking the community for help.

COVID-19 cases slowly rise again in Orange County as vaccination pace remains sluggish

GOSHEN - Just two weeks ago, Orange County had a single newly confirmed case of COVID-19 in one day and appeared ready to drop to zero for the first time in 17 months. But then daily cases climbed into the teens and reached 39 and 38 on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, respectively, according to state Department of Health data. And by Thursday, county health officials had logged 122 active coronavirus cases across the county, with 38 in Middletown and 22 in Warwick.

Huckleberry Picking, An Old Summer Tradition in the Shawangunks

Today's hikers can still see traces of the historic berry-pickers' shacks — and enjoy the fruits of their own picking labor in pies and tarts. The poor, acidic, and shallow soil on top of the Shawangunk Ridge was never ideal for farming — but it offered a perfect medium for huckleberries and wild blueberries to grow. For a century of summers, from the 1860s into the 1960s, picking them was a major local industry that satisfied a craze for them throughout the Northeast.
