Scarlett Johansson Sues Disney Over ‘Black Widow’ Release on Disney+

Black Widow has fared reasonably well in movie theaters, all things considered. It’s grossed about $157 million in the United States, and over $320 million worldwide. That does rank among the lowest box-office totals ever for a Marvel Cinematic Universe film (currently only The Incredible Hulk is lower). But given that movie theaters have barely recovered from extended closures due to the Covid pandemic — which is far from over — those numbers are fairly impressive.

Remember When Taylor Swift Went Apple Picking in Dutchess County?

As Hudson Valley residents, over the last few years, we have gotten used to seeing big named celebrities casually walking around the neighborhood. That's thanks to all the movies filming in the area. This summer alone was one of the busiest for filming. Writer and actress Mindy Kaling had an HBO production filming in Dutchess County. Amy Schumer was working on her new project for Hulu, Life of Beth, in LaGrange, Poughkeepsie and Red Hook. Woody Harrelson was seen just about everywhere in the Hudson Valley while filming White House Plumbers.

The ‘Die Hard’ Prequel Was Killed By the Disney/Fox Merger

Apparently the sixth Die Hard movie is dead. RIP Die Hard 6. You died as you lived. Dying hard. The most recent Die Hard film, A Good Day to Die Hard opened in theaters in 2013. Then Fox reportedly started developing a sort of hybrid prequel and sequel, one that would feature Bruce Willis, but also feature a young John McClane and showing an origin story for the character. The movie was talked about for years; the last update about it on ScreenCrush was published in 2018.

Daniel Radcliffe Reveals Who He’d Want to Play in a ‘Harry Potter’ Reboot

Daniel Radcliffe is and forever will be associated with the role of Harry Potter. But Daniel Radcliffe is now — and this is going to be upsetting, so you might want to make sure you’re sitting down before you read this — 32 years old. If the Harry Potter series were ever rebooted in the 2020s, another actor would have to play Harry Potter. (Motion capture is good, but it’s not that good.)

‘Jungle Cruise’ Review: Give This Disney Adventure a Wide Berth

It doesn’t feel like a big ask for a movie called Jungle Cruise to occasionally look like it takes place in an actual jungle on an actual river cruise. That seems like the bare minimum a movie called Jungle Cruise should provide. As a matter of fact, the old Jungle Cruise attraction at Disneyland occasionally pulled off a more convincing simulation of a river cruise through a jungle than this film inspired by it, and the ride’s technology dates back to Disneyland’s opening day in 1955. There are all kinds of elaborate effects in this film: Monsters, CGI jaguars, magical trees. And yet it never pulls off the simple illusion of its heroes floating down the middle of the Amazon. It always seems like everyone is standing on a set in a big green room.
