Glens Falls’ Jimmer Fredette Living Up to Potential Overseas

In 2011, if a sports fan said the name "Jimmer" out loud, everyone would know exactly who they were talking about. Ten years later, in the United States, his name is synonymous not with current glory, but rather with past potential. Overseas, however, Jimmer Fredette's name is mentioned with a bit more excitement.

Buffalo Fans Welcomed by Bills to Training Camp

An old familiar feeling welcomed the Buffalo Bills players this weekend, people cheering for them at training camp. It's been a while and according to Dante Lasting of buffalobills.com, it was a great feeling. The AFC runner-up completed their first week of camp and held their first practice inside Highmark Stadium on Saturday. It was awesome to see more than 15,000 fans show up to see their beloved Buffalo Bills. Lasting describe it, "they (The fans) brought a lot of energy. As the players were walking out of the tunnel at the start of practice, they were met by a standing ovation and screaming fans."

New York Yankees Trades Paying Dividends

When New York Yankees General Manger Brian Cashman traded for Anthony Rizzo, he knew exactly what he was getting. Cashman had signed a large framed, slick fielding first baseman named Mark Teixeira back in 2009. That worked out pretty well for the Bronx Bombers. Don't be surprised if Mr. Rizzo sticks around New York for a long time. In just his third game, the former Cub led the Yankees back in the eighth inning, as they defeated the Marlins, 3-1 Sunday afternoon. Thanks much in part to their new acquisitions, New York swept the three-game series from Miami and finished the road trip at 6-4.

Going To See The Bills At Highmark Stadium? Watch For these Road Closures

The Bills are holding their first open-to-the-public practice this weekend. But if you're going, be aware, there will be some road closures. It's been quite some time since people have been able to come out and watch The Bills in numbers like we used to. But this weekend, they're holding a practice at training camp that will be open to the public at Highmark Stadium.

Did the New York Mets Make a Trade Just to Make a Trade?

As Mets fans held their breath for the last few weeks, wondering how new owner Steve Cohen would flash his wallet and buy the Amazin's some much needed pitching help, especially hours after finding out that Superman Jacob deGrom would be sidelined until September, those dreams of greatness never materialized. The Mets made a trade, but was it really for a player that they needed or did they just need to make a trade?

Rotterdam & Colonie All-Stars Advance to Semi’s; Could Battle for State Title

It's remarkable to think that out of all of the 12U Little League All-Star teams in the entire state of New York, two of the four remaining teams still vying for a chance to play at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA are from the Capital Region. For Colonie Little League and Rotterdam Carman LL, things couldn't have set up better for both teams who have advanced to the NY State Semi-Finals, in-line to possibly face one another in the championship game. Here's how they got there:

The Story Of How I (Kind of) Met A Buffalo Sabre In Boston

In the entire amount of time that this player has played in Buffalo, I've never seen him here. I went to Boston for one day. Guess who I saw... Buffalo is a pretty big city. But it's still pretty common to run into sports stars here. When I was a kid, I saw Bruce Smith and literally ran into Darryl Talley in the same day. But that's a whole different story.

‘None’ and Done: Benjamin Cut by Giants Before First Practice Began

I don't know about you, but I'll always remember the Kelvin Benjamin era with the New York Giants fondly. Benjamin, however, may not share the same sentiments, according to reports. Back-tracking a bit, Benjamin signed with the Giants on May 16, 2021. The former first round pick was a can't-miss talent at the beginning of his career with the Carolina Panthers, but battled injuries and inconsistently as the years progressed. He last played in the NFL in 2018 with the Bills and Chiefs, and was reportedly targeting a comeback as a tight end. Standing 6'5" and weighing 268 pounds, one could imagine that a healthy and well-coached Benjamin would have an outside shot to be a difference-maker on any team.

New York Yankee Trade Parade Continues

Yankees GM Brian Cashman is wheeling and dealing like his job depends on it. Maybe it does and the same goes for his manager. Though both will be quickly employed if let go, it is not the same as being at the head of the New York Yankees organization. Early Thursday evening, Cashman added a power hitting first baseman, with four Gold Gloves and a World Series ring to his line-up.

Olney: New York Rival Eyes Major Anthony Rizzo Move [LISTEN]

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, and a major New York Yankees' rival is planning theirs. That team is the Boston Red Sox, who, as ESPN's Buster Olney told us, are emerging as a front-runner for Chicago Cubs first baseman, Anthony Rizzo. The two sides have always shared a bond, as the Red Sox drafted Rizzo in the 6th round in 2007, and traded him to the San Diego Padres three years later for Adrian Gonzalez. Rizzo is a career .270 hitting having a down year, on a Cubs team that is underperforming and looking to move some of their best players.

One of the very cool aspects of living close to the historic Saratoga Race Course is you get to see the best race horses in the world compete live. They walk right through the crowd on their journey from their stables across the street, to starting gate. This weekend is an awesome example, with 2021 Belmont Stakes winner Essential Quality highlighting the entries in Saturday's 58th running of the Grade 2 Jim Dandy Stakes. New York Rangers Add Daunting Size to Defensive Core

It's out with the old, and in with the massive, for the New York Rangers. In a continuation of Chris Drury's mission to revamp a Rangers' team that wasn't "tough enough" to win in the playoffs, the New York general manager acquired a duo of bruisers, inking defensemen Jarred Tinordi and Patrik Nemeth to contracts on the inaugural day of free agency. Both players are 29 years of age, and come with nearly a decade of professional hockey experience.

Mitch Buonaguro Getting Well Deserved Recognition

Former Siena men’s head basketball coach Mitch Buonaguro will be inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame on Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy, and it’s so well deserved. Mitch is a class act who has paid his dues in more ways than one, and his contributions to the game are endless. Coach Buonaguro has done it all and seen it all, including being part of a National Championship in 1984-85 when was an assistant under Rollie Massimino at Villanova. His timing at Siena was challenging, because he followed Fran McCaffery who had the greatest three year run in the history of the program. Nice to see good things happen to good people, and Mitch is a great person who has more than earned in spot in the Hall of Fame. Make sure to listen to our interview with Mitch above.

New York Yankees Close to Adding Big Slugger

According to reports by MLB's Jon Heyman, the New York Yankees are verge of adding Texas Rangers slugger Joey Gallo to their already big lineup. I say big because Gallo not only has 35 home runs this season but he is 6'5", to go along with 6'6" Gioncarlo Stanton and 6'7" Aaron Judge. UAlbany and Siena face front courts smaller than that in college hoops. Ok, that may be a stretch but those guys are really big Major League Baseball players.
