Just a couple years ago, one of the fastest growing chain restaurants in America, Jersey Mike's, had a grand total of zero locations in Maine. Fast forward to now, and Jersey Mike's aggressive expansion into Vacationland is continuing at a rapid pace. The sandwich chain already has 3 operational locations in Scarborough, Windham, and Brunswick. Jersey Mike's plans on opening an additional 4 locations soon, including their first in Portland.

Justice for Harmony: Missing NH Girl’s Case Now a Homicide Investigation

The search for Harmony Montgomery, missing since 2019 but only reported to police in December, has turned into a murder investigation. State Attorney General John Formela said in an announcement on Thursday afternoon that investigators believe Harmony was murdered in early December 2019 when she was five years old. No arrests have been made, and no mention was made about her father Adam Montgomery or her stepmother Kayla Montgomery.

More Than 50 Cows Survived a Scary Fire at a Gorham Dairy Farm

A Gorham family is grieving the loss of several of their dairy cows, as well as their barn after a scary fire in Gorham Tuesday night. In cases like this, I guess you focus on the positive. At least 50 cows survived the fire at the Flaggy Meadow Farm because they were out in the pasture when it started. None of the people on the farm were injured. And firefighters were able to limit the fire to the barn, so two houses and several outbuildings on the property weren't damaged.

Here’s Why Gifford’s Ice Cream Stand in Auburn, Maine, Closed

In a surprise announcement on their Facebook page Monday, Gifford's Ice Cream announced that their ice cream stand on Minot Avenue in Auburn is now closed for the season. The first Gifford's Ice Cream stand in Maine opened in 1980 in Skowhegan and was followed by a stand in Farmington in 1982, Bangor in 1987, Waterville in 1991 and the Auburn ice cream stand in 2006. They've all been a huge success, so it's especially surprising that the Auburn stand is closing early for the season.
