Weavers: Thrilled Turning Point has Perry HS presence

Posted

Just finished reading the criticism article in the latest Chandler Independent.  As parents with one and, next year, three kids at Perry High, we are thrilled that students chose to open a (Turning Point) USA chapter on campus.

We are proud supporters of the civil, honest discourse that TPUSA fosters at schools,  especially when conservative voices are being silenced and denied their right to free speech.

It was frustrating to read Mrs. Nash's comments.  Even the few insults quoted in the article were enough to send us rushing here to submit our own feedback.

We weren't at the CUSD board meeting and are truly hoping that her comments did not go unchecked.  We are thrilled that Mr. (Board member Kurt) Rohrs attended the TPUSA meeting and hope more board members will follow suit.

If Nash took the time to educate herself, instead of spewing liberal rhetoric, she'd find that TPUSA never promotes violence.  The "hate, exclusivity, and uniformity" were clearly coming from her side.

As parents, we will absolutely hold the CUSD board responsible for making sure conservative student voices and clubs are in no way silenced or restricted.  We also continue to support the board's decision to keep CRT and anything remotely akin to it OUT of our schools.

Thank you,

Mr. and Mrs. Weaver

Proud Chandler residents
