That is exactly what happened to one national chain that tried to make a go at it in the Valley.

The $1.9 billion general fund budget suggests using most of the anticipated $134 million surplus for employee wage increases. Barton argues that the city's staffing issue, with approximately 17% of city positions remaining unfilled, is caused by low wages and a tight labor market.

There’s no denying the love of Mexican food in the Valley. Most of the restaurants around town are independently owned. They are run by families who want to both make a living as well as share their love of food with the community. And yet, for whatever reason, entities from outside states look at Phoenix and deem it the ideal destination to open satellite locations. Despite the sheer volume of authentic Mexican food, these restaurants move in, as if there’s a gold rush on Mexican cuisine in Arizona. This is happening once again, as a restaurant chain from out of state has moved in and set up shop.

Few southern dishes are as unique as chicken and waffles. At first, it seems like an unusual combination, but when you think about it, pairing something savory, such as the chicken, with something sweet, in this case, the waffle (and its syrup), just seems to work. It is a dish that, when done right, just finds a way to put smiles on faces.
