Sirens: Embezzlement; $5,000 in Merchandise Stolen From Business; Assault; Thefts; Lewis County Jail Statistics

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• Nearly $5,000 worth of merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 100 block of West High Street just after 9:50 a.m. on June 6. The case is under investigation. 

• A battery was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of South Rock Street just after 2:15 p.m. on June 5. 

• A chain saw was reported stolen from the 500 block of East Magnolia Street at approximately 2:50 p.m. on June 5. The case is under investigation. 

• Three key chains were reported stolen from a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road at approximately 4:05 p.m. on June 6. The case is under investigation. 

 

Found Property 

• A purse that was found at the intersection of South Street and South Tower Avenue was turned in to the Centralia Police Department just after 12:35 p.m. on June 2. The purse had no identification inside and contained “paraphernalia used to smoke fentanyl.”  

• A wallet that was found in the 200 block of Harrison Avenue was turned in to the Centralia Police Department just before 2:25 p.m. on June 6. 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• Two homeless people, one from Centralia and one from California, were warned for “yelling and using offensive language in public” in the 800 block of Johnson Road at 12:35 p.m. on June 5. 

• At 12:50 p.m. on June 5, officers responded to a report of a male subject in the 1900 block of South Gold Street “yelling and hitting the ground with a stick.” The subject left before officers arrived. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• A juvenile was arrested in the 2800 block of Borst Avenue just after 3:10 p.m. on June 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for allegedly breaking the back window of a vehicle. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run reported in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 5:15 p.m. on June 5 is under investigation. 

 

Wellness Check 

• Officers were asked to check on a homeless man found sleeping on the lawn of a radio station in the 1600 block of South Gold Street just before 11:25 a.m. on June 6. The man left the scene before officers arrived. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Criminal Trespass 

• A male subject who was reportedly refusing to leave a property in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at 8:45 a.m. on June 5 and who had “been coming there often and scaring the residents” was trespassed from the property. 

• A subject was reportedly trespassing on property in the 100 block of North Market Boulevard just after 1:50 p.m. on June 6. 

 

Theft 

• A case of second-degree theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 9:10 a.m. on June 5. 

• Registration was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 10 block of Northeast Washington Avenue at 11:30 a.m. on June 5. 

• At approximately 5:05 a.m. on June 6, a wood chipper was reported stolen from the 1000 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue sometime overnight. 



• A purse was reported stolen out of a car in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:15 p.m. on June 6. 

 

Fraud 

• A case of possible tax fraud was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Prindle Street at 5:15 p.m. on June 6. 

Wellness Check  

• Officers were asked to respond to the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue for a wellness check at 3:25 p.m. on June 5 after a caller reported hearing “a female yelling at some kids inside.” 

 

Disorderly Conduct 

• A disorderly subject was reportedly “screaming and yelling (at) things” outside a business in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:50 p.m. on June 5. 

 

Assault 

• A case of fourth-degree assault reported in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just after 7:05 p.m. on June 5 is under investigation. 

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• Just after 10:20 p.m. on June 5, a caller reported “six or seven subjects around a red car” in the 1200 block of Bishop Road “look(ed) like they might be having a ‘fight club.’” 

• A caller reported multiple juveniles were on the roof of a building in the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street at 11:30 p.m. on June 5. Officers confirmed it was high school seniors performing their senior prank. 

• A possible attempted burglary was reported in the 400 block of Southwest McFadden Avenue just after 6:55 a.m. on June 6 after a resident reported finding one of her window screens had been removed from her window and placed by a nearby wall. 

• A possible burglary to a vacant house in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street was reported just after 12:05 a.m. on June 7. Officers confirmed the house was secure and found no evidence of a burglary. 

 

Vehicle Accidents 

• A semi-truck possibly struck the overpass near the intersection of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way and North National Avenue at 10:45 a.m. on June 6. “(It) looked like the semi was trying to make the yellow light, (the driver) heard a loud noise from his back wheels,” according to the Chehalis Police Department. Officers found no new evidence of damage and stated the “(semi’s) tires appeared to hit the curb.” 

• A non-injury two-vehicle collision that blocked the roadway at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Southwest Second Street was reported at approximately 11:50 a.m. on June 6. 

 

Embezzlement 

• A case of embezzlement reported in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place just after 1:30 p.m. on June 6 is under investigation. 

 

Harassment 

• A case of harassment between two juveniles was reported in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just before 7:55 p.m. on June 6. One juvenile reportedly called the other juvenile a racial slur and threw sticks at him. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 156 inmates, including 140 in the general population and 16 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 108 were reported male and 32 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 13 were reported male and three were reported female.
