All rides at Centralia Anchor Fest pass inspection report

CENTRALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The annual Centralia Anchor Festival kicked off Friday afternoon.

The 2023 festival features 23 rides from Tinsley's Amusements. A ride inspection report -- conducted March 16 -- shows all 23 rides passed inspection with satisfactory requirements. Some categories in the list of inspections needed to pass include safety restraints, having a fire extinguisher, warning signs and brakes.

The oldest ride on the list is the merry-go-round, which was built in 1949. Despite its many years of operation, the ride still met satisfactory requirements in each category.

A daily inspection log and maintenance log were also confirmed for each ride.

With temperatures expected to reach up to 90 degrees this weekend, Centralia Fire Chief Denny Rusch said his department is prepared for any issues that may occur.

"We have the fire department... the police department here all weekend," Rusch said. "And we have the Boone County hospital out here so we're pretty well covered. I think it'll be a good time for everybody you just need to be safe and watch what you eat and be hydrated if it's gonna be 90s and stuff."

Centralia Police Chief Harlan Hatton said the police department will have extra officers on duty patrolling all weekend. The Boone County Sheriff's Office will also have deputies in the area.

"We just pulled in a couple of extra guys, we're not a big department so everybody's working," Hatton said. "Boone county sent a couple guys up... they'll be here for part of the night. We want people to come and enjoy the festivities but we don't want people to cause issues, that's pretty simple."

The event will last through 5 p.m. Sunday.
