Man dies in UTV crash in Centralia, Illinois

CENTRALIA, Ill. – One man died in a UTV crash Friday morning in Centralia, Illinois, according to the Washington County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner reports that Anthony W. Watkins, 57, died in what appeared to be an accidental crash on Sycamore Road.

The coroner’s office says that Watkins using the UTV in an attempt to corral a pony which had escaped its enclosure. At some point, the vehicle flipped over and Watkins was ejected.

“Watkins was reportedly traveling a high rate of speed when the vehicle flipped over,” said the coroner in a news release. His cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department and the Washington County Coroner’s Office are investigating the crash.
