As a reminder to residents, all golf carts and utility terrain vehicles operated in the City of Centralia must be registered and hold a valid permit prior to operation on the City’s streets. The permitted vehicles are only able to be operated on certain streets within the City of Centralia.
Prohibited locations include:
• On Broadway between Pullen Blvd and Oak Park, except to cross at any intersection.
• On Illinois Highway 161, McCord St. and Noleman St. except to cross at any intersection.
• On Illinois Highway 51, Poplar St. and Elm St., except to cross at any intersection.
• On Walnut Hill Rd except to cross at any intersection.
• On sidewalks or in city parks other than roadways designated for vehicle traffic and parking areas.
• On streets and highways and roads under the jurisdiction of the state department of transportation.
Rules and regulations concerning the permitting and operation of golf carts and UTVs as well as the forms for applications for permits can be obtained in the City Clerk’s office and can also be found on the City’s website at www.cityofcentralia.org.
