Central Point man dies in Jackson County car crash

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. -- A Central Point man is dead after his car collided with another car on May 27 at about 5:04 p.m. on Highway 62 near milepost 17. 

According to a Tuesday news release from Oregon State Police, 26-year-old Corey Hanley was traveling westbound in a silver Subaru WRX when it lost control, swerved into the eastbound lane and crashed into a white Subaru Crosstrek. 

Hanley as transported to the hospital, the release said, but was later declared dead. The driver of the car he crashed into, 80-year-old Barbara Badger of Shady Cove, was transported to the hospital as a precaution. 

"The highway was impacted for approximately 2 hours while the on-scene investigation was conducted," the release said. "OSP was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Fire, and ODOT."
