CENTER Softball — The Center Lady Roughriders battled through back-toback losses this past week. On Tuesday, they met the Carthage Lady Bulldogs in an away game. Center entered the top of the seventh trailing 7-2. The Lady Roughriders tried to mount a comeback, but were cut short with a final score of 7-5.

Friday, Center found themselves behind early. The Henderson Lady Lions took an 11-1 victory after five innings.

Baseball— The Roughriders faced mixed results through last week. Their week started on a high note with a 9-6 win over Gilmer. A five-run seventh inning boosted Center to the victory.

Friday did not go as well for the Riders. The Carthage Bulldogs came to Center and walked away with a 6-1 victory.

JOAQUIN Softball— The Joaquin Lady Rams kicked off the week on Monday with a big 12-2 win over the Timpson Lady Bears. Joaquin held a narrow 2-1 lead after three innings, but a seven-run fourth inning gave the Lady Rams some breathing room and would ultimately take the victory. B. Bagley pitched the full five innings and ended the game with seven strikeouts.

Following their win to open the week, the Lady Rams faced multiple setbacks. The first came on Tuesday when the Lady Rams fell 5-0 to the Beckville Lady Bearcats. Friday, Joaquin traveled to Converse, La. to face the Lady Wildcats. After five innings, Converse took the win 177. The next day, Joaquin faced off against the Captain Shreve Lady Gators of Shreveport, La.

Unfortunately, this game ended in heartbreak for the Lady Rams. The teams entered the seventh inning knotted up at 10. Captain Shreve earned a run in the top of the final inning, and Joaquin was unable to answer leaving the score at 11-10 in favor of the Lady Gators.

Baseball— Last week, the Rams faced off against the Timpson Bears in back-to-back games on Tuesday and Friday.

On Tuesday, Joaquin traveled to Timpson and secured a victory with a final score of 11-6. B. Anglin and K. Brooks split pitching duties for the Rams. Anglin left the mound with six strikeouts, while Brooks struck out four. Brooks led the Rams in hits with four. T. Hawkins led the team in RBIs with three.

Friday, the teams met in Joaquin with a similar result. This time the Rams ended the game on top 11-1. M. Hutchins pitched five innings and struck out 10 Timpson batters. Hawkins once again led the Rams with three RBIs.

SHELBYVILLE Softball— The Lady Dragons week started on Monday with an 8-0 victory over the Mount Enterprise Lady Wildcats. Taylor Jones handled pitching duties for Shelbyville and ended the game with six strikeouts. Jones also pitched 15 first pitch strikes.

Next, Shelbyville traveled to Martinsville to face the Lady Pirates. The Lady Dragons put up a massive 10-run first inning and coasted to a 19-3 win after four innings. Jones split pitching duties with Lanie Bass.

Baseball— Last Tuesday, Shelbyville traveled to Woden and secured a 5-1 victory over the Eagles. Dylan Parker pitched a complete seven inning game with 16 strikeouts. Friday, Shelbyville hosted Woden. The Dragons gained an early lead before Woden tied things up at 5-5 in the fourth inning. Shelbyville found another gear in the final two and a half innings and earned an 11-5 win.

TIMPSON Softball— Following the Timpson Lady Bears’ 12-2 setback to Joaquin, Timpson found success with a pair of wins. The first was a 16-5 win over the Lady Pirates of Martinsville. The Lady Bears ended the week on Friday with a 6-3 home win over the Garrison Lady Bulldogs.

Baseball — As reported earlier, the Bears were unable to overcome Joaquin in either of their two meetings last week.
