Ground-penetrating radar searching for depressions at Villages golf cart tunnel
Ground-penetrating radar is being utilized to search for possible depressions at Tunnel M-18 in The Villages. The tunnel located at Morse Boulevard and Meggison Road will be closed through 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 14 for the inspection. The Wildwood Police Department and Community Watch have been called upon to help direct traffic in the area.
DUI suspect who drank at Brownwood found in car in coned construction area
A drunk driving suspect who admitted she had been drinking at Brownwood Paddock Square was found in her car in a coned construction area on State Road 44. Macey Shoemaker, 22, of Ocala, was discovered late Thursday night in a red Dodge Durango in a coned off construction area near the intersection of State Road 44 and Morse Boulevard, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Her vehicle was running.

Deputies taser convicted felon after wild ride in stolen pickup
A convicted felon suspected of stealing a pickup was tasered after he was chased down by law enforcement. George Parks, 27, of Ocala, was driving a silver Ford F-150 pickup at about 1 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 301 when a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy spotted the pickup which had been reported stolen the previous day in Marion County. The truck was in the area of U.S. 301 and County Road 124A when the deputy, with the assistance of a Wildwood Police Department officer, tried to initiate a traffic stop.
