Over ten years have elapsed since Rachel Cyriacks vanished from Woonsocket, South Dakota, sparking a prolonged search that persists to this day. In a recent bid to push the investigation forward, law enforcement agencies intensified their efforts along the James River northeast of Huron, an area previously scoured for clues. The search was marked by the deployment of boats and the erection of a temporary structure on the riverbanks, signaling the seriousness of the operation. Despite the extensive measures, officials have maintained a tight-lipped stance, releasing no details on any findings.
How Cyriacks investigation has unfolded since 2013
HURON, S.D. (KELO) — The week’s search northeast of Huron has put the spotlight back on Rachel Cyriacks; the Woonsocket woman disappeared 10 years ago this month. Cyriacks’s family reported her missing in December 2013. That same month, Sanborn County law enforcement spoke with Cyriacks’s husband Brad, who was the last person to see her. He and Rachel were going through a divorce, and she had sought and received a protection order against him. Rachel said Brad physically abused her. He spent time in jail for violating that protection order.
