On Aug. 8, Anthony Hopkins took to Instagram to celebrate International Cat Day and posted a carousel of photos, one of which showed him cuddling a kitten. The actor took the opportunity to advocate for adopting felines from Morocco. His advocacy doesn’t come as a surprise, as “ The Silence of the Lambs ” star had a cat of his own named Niblo, who passed away in 2022.

Thursday marked International Cat Day when cat lovers get to appreciate their feline friends for their quirky and aloof selves. Anthony Hopkins also celebrated the day by posting a photo of him cuddling an adorable kitten from Morocco. The Instagram carousel also included images of other cats, with a feline flaunting their cute toe beans in one of them.

Hopkins tagged the organization Help Adopt Moroccan Animals in the Instagram post. The shelter helps street animals in need, giving them someplace to call their home until they find a family that will shower them with all the love and care they deserve. The actor captioned the post, “From Ouarzazate, Morocco, with love.”

The first photo showed Anthony Hopkins hugging a beautiful calico kitten . The feline looked comfortable in his arms and did not struggle to escape as he looked into the camera. The following image was of a ginger kitty stretching one of her paws, flaunting her adorable toe beans. The next few pictures were of a mix of cats, several of them napping in their pet beds.

The “ Hannibal ” actor and his wife have often supported organizations that help animals in need, per PEOPLE . Last year, the couple worked with Paws of War, a nonprofit that aims to help any U.S. armed force members reunite with animals they rescued during deployments. Moreover, Anthony Hopkins had a cat until a few years back, a cute gray tabby named Niblo. Unfortunately, the feline passed away in September 2022.
