Ski resort invests $2.5M to bolster four-season business
ELLICOTTVILLE, N.Y. — Holiday Valley Resort is investing another $2.5 million into its Ellicottville campus in a bid to increase year-round business opportunity. The company detailed its plans in an application to the Cattaraugus County Industrial Development Agency for sales tax abatement for upgrades and improvements throughout the resort, including some aimed at increasing efficiencies and technology.
Solomon’s Hidden Treasures
Solomon’s Hidden Treasures, a unique non-profit Thrift Store in Springville, offers a combination of new, used and antique items. It is run by volunteers supervised by Pastor Gail McCrory, the founder of Solomon’s Porch Ministries, a Non-Denominational Church in Mansfield, NY. Her daughter Hannah also helps run the store. “I love seeing our regular customers”, said the Pastor. “We truly have become a family around here”. Her daughter added, “My favorite thing about working here is when our customers send us, or show us, photos of how they have upcycled something they purchased here. Their creativity is amazing!” One customer used teapots they purchased from “Treasures” to create table centerpieces for events and fundraisers held for women who need financial help during their treatment for breast cancer.
Rain in the forecast forces Evans Mills track to postpone opening night
EVANS MILLS, New York (WWNY) - The threat of rain in the forecast has forced Evans Mills Raceway Park to move its opening night from this Saturday night to Saturday, May 11. General manager Nick Czerow says an open practice will be held at Evans Mills Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. with gates opening at 3 p.m.
