Cats of Kansas City
Five cats who want to make your house their playground
2024-07-26
Another week, another set of great cats who right now, at this very minute are hanging out at a Kansas City shelter (or a foster home), waiting for you to discover them.
Rain
First up is Rain who is currently at Great Plains SPCA sound asleep, despite the barking dogs in the distance. She's a youngster, just one year old and you'll find that she's shy at first. Give her a little patience and some time to acclimate to her new environment, and you'll find that you'd be hard pressed to finer a sweeter, or cuter, cat.
Sorry to rain on your parade, but if you have children under the age of six, Rain is probably not the cat for you. Fret not though. One thing the world doesn't lack is cats--there's plenty to choose from. Just keep on reading.
First of all, hats off to the photographer at the Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter (FOPAS). They do a great job. Our next cat, Kome, "komes" from there and is currently licking his paws with gusto. Like the last FOPAS cat featured here, a calico named Wafflehouse, Kome is named after where he was found, Lake Waukomis. A day out at Lake Waukomis sounds nice. Being a cat, living around Lake Waukomis, maybe not as nice. Kome deserves a home.
Kome is a people person and is great with adults and kids alike. FOPAS isn't sure how he'd do in a home with other dogs and cats, so a slow introduction is recommended (probably a good idea anyway). Finally, Kome is a big guy. Here's a pic that will give you a better sense of his size.
If you're interested in Kome, you can fill out a pre-adoption application here. Filling it out doesn't obligate you to anything.
Tiger
It's tabby time! Tiger, from Meowy Matchmakers, is loving getting his ear rubbed.
Meowy Matchmakers has tons of kittens at the moment who are likely getting all the attention from prospective new families. That can make it hard for seniors like Tiger to get noticed. Let's give it up for Tiger though and hope that somebody, maybe you even, will look beyond all that kitten cuteness and pick this senior fellow to give a home. He can be shy at first, but it won't be too hard to win him over. A little food is all you'll need.
Tiger is a great choice for anyone looking a lazy lap cat to hang with, and you can learn more about him here. If you had a kitten in mind, no judgment, you can check out their many kittens here or just keep reading. Again, there's no shortage of cats.
Gibbs
Next we have Gibbs, an adorable kitten from The Animal Rescue Alliance. Currently swatting at a laser toy, Gibbs is almost six months old and is a very affection, sweet girl. She never gets tired of belly rubs and should get along splendidly with any other cats or dogs you might already have. You can learn more about her here.
Ice Cream Cone
Last but not least, we have Ice Cream Cone, an equally cute but much wilder kitten who is likely getting into some mischief right now. No matter whether you prefer rocky road or strawberry, you'll have a new favorite Ice Cream Cone once you meet her.
Don't let that cute exterior fool you, this Ice Cream Cone must be made with jalapenos. She's spicy. She'll be cuddling one minute an hissing at you the next. If you want a kind, docile cat, maybe one like Tiger would be a better fit. However, if you're up to the challenge of taming this girl and won't take her hissing personally, get in touch with Cats Pawjamas. You can learn more about her here.
That's all for this week. Want to look at more cats? Check out my profile here. Many of the cats featured on past posts are still available!
