Suspect arrested in deadly triple shooting at Baltimore County motel
BALTIMORE -- Three men were shot at a motel in Catonsville early Monday morning.
Baltimore County police told WJZ they had a suspect in custody but did not reveal more information about that person or provide a name as of Monday evening.
"At this point, I would have to wait until we have the charging documents," Sgt. Gladys Brown told WJZ Investigator Mike Hellgren. "Once I have that information, we can release further."
Sgt. Brown praised the quick work of police in making the arrest.
"At this point, there is no evidence that would lead us to believe this is anything but an isolated incident," she said.
Police have not released a motive in the case.
Neighbors who live behind and on the side of the Motel 6 said they did not hear any gunfire and management of the motel declined to comment.
Hellgren reviewed police dispatch recordings of the incident. The response started around 2:45am. Police said the gunfire came from the main lobby area and they called for medics for multiple victims.
Sgt. Brown urged any witnesses to come forward with more information in the case.
WJZ captured police collecting and documenting evidence Monday afternoon in front of the motel in the 5800-block of Baltimore National Pike—near one of the ramps off the Beltway—in connection with the incident.
Police identified the man who died as 30-year-old Javier Argueta. They said the two other men injured in the shooting are expected to survive.
About three hours before the motel shooting, a separate shooting in Baltimore County injured a woman near Joppa Road and Perring Parkway.
Motel 6 sent WJZ this statement: "Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victims, and we are doing everything we can to assist law enforcement with their investigation.
