16-year-old arrested on suspicion of threatening to shoot Cathedral City High School students

A teen was arrested today on suspicion of threatening to shoot students at Cathedral City High School.

Police received a tip at around 6:30 a.m. Friday about an unidentified 16-year-old Cathedral City resident threatening to shoot students at the high school at 69250 Dinah Shore Drive, according to Sgt. Nate Hanley of the Cathedral City Police Department.

"Cathedral City Police School Resource Officer and Detectives investigated the information and were able to locate and arrest the juvenile for making terrorist threats against the school,'' Hanley said in a statement. "No weapons were located nor involved in the threats, and no specific students were directly named or threatened in this case."  

The name of the teen was withheld due to age.   

Anyone with information on the threats was asked to call CCPD at 760- 770-0300 or valley crime stoppers anonymously at 760-340-7867(STOP).
