A deputy with the Monterey County Sheriff's Office was injured while responding to reports of a drive-by shooting in Castroville Saturday afternoon.The sheriff's office received a call about a drive-by shooting in the Castroville area at 2:01 p.m. According to authorities, the reporting party was following the suspect's car.As a deputy turned onto Castroville Boulevard from Highway 156, the deputy's car collided with another vehicle. The deputy was transferred to Natividad Medical Center while two occupants of the other car were transferred to a nearby hospital. The crash resulted in a temporary road closure. The California Highway Patrol will be conducting a collision investigation.Following the crash, the suspect's car was located and stopped. Deputies located two gel guns and a large amount of gel ammunition. Authorities determined that the 39-year-old driver of the vehicle was on parole and was arrested soon after for assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment and a parole violation.Two juvenile males, 14 and 15, were also charged with assault with a deadly weapon and later released to their parents.
