Firefighters Rescue Victims and Pets from Early Morning Blaze in Longview Apartment Complex
At approximately 4:25 am on September 13, 2023, the Longview Fire Department responded to an emergency call reporting a structure fire at 110 East Hawkins Pkwy, Apt. 4304. Upon arrival, the first unit on the scene encountered a blaze raging from the upstairs apartment. The firefighters spotted a victim perched on the second-floor window sill, requiring immediate rescue. The victim informed rescuers that others were still trapped inside the apartment.

One person died and another person was injured a kitchen fire Tuesday morning in Longview. One person died and another person was injured a kitchen fire Tuesday morning in Longview. The initial call was for a chair on fire in a house. Then a call indicated smoke and flames coming from the house and a person was possibly still inside. Firefighters arrived six minutes after the first call to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the house. While searching the home and putting out the fire, crews found one person dead inside of the home. Another person escaped with burn injuries. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, but it appears to have started on a stove.

KELSO, Wash. (KPTV) - Cowlitz County firefighters responded to multiple trash fires outside of businesses in Kelso early Sunday morning. Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue said just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday, firefighters and Longview firefighters responded to Boondox convenience store on West Cowlitz Way in Kelso. When they arrived, they found a dumpster at the back of the building fully engulfed in flames. They said the fire began to spread to the building, they put it out and there were no injuries.

On September 7, 2023, at approximately 12:31 PM, Cowlitz 911 received a report of a stabbing incident at the Coal Creek Boat Launch, situated at 6101 Ocean Beach Hwy, Longview. Deputies responded to the call and interviewed the victim, who had sustained injuries to his hand and legs. The victim informed authorities that he had been assaulted by his father, Mark Andrew Laurila, age 53, who had arranged to meet him at the boat launch.

Louis Johnson Jr. was killed following a car chase that ended in gunfire, the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday. Police shot and killed the 30-year-old Seattle man after he fled from officers in Longview after paramedics revived him with Narcan. No officers were harmed in the exchange. Investigators recovered a 9mm pistol with no serial number. Law enforcement said it was an illegally manufactured “ghost gun.”
