UPDATE 6:54 P.M. CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — After a fire burned through a commercial building on June 3 in the Dugspur area, owners Robin Hedge say the building is a total loss.

Hedge says the building was a family business, Laying J Leather LLC, and believes it caught fire due to a lightning strike.

However, an official cause has not been determined at this time.

CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Hillsville Fire Department says several crews were dispatched to a commercial structure fire in Dugspur on Saturday afternoon.

The department says the call came in on June 3 around 5:20 p.m. for a fire on the corner of Floyd Pike and Hunters Ridge Road. Over nine departments, along with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police were called to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a large garage fully consumed in flames. Firefighters say once all occupants were accounted for, crews begin to fight the blaze.

According to the Floyd County Volunteer Fire Department Station 2, crews were on the scene for nearly four hours.

There were no reported injuries.

At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown.
