The Blanchet Farm recovery facility in Carlton broke ground today on the redevelopment of their recovery facility.
This free, one-of-a-kind program will be able to house up to 21 men who battle with substance addiction and homelessness.
One unique part of this center is that they offer hands-on work on the farm as therapeutic treatment.
Residents can garden, work with animals, learn beekeeping, woodworking, and cook.
Ross Sears, the farm manager, went through the program 15 years ago and is hoping to change more lives just like he did.
“The trick to this, and it was kinda for me too, I didn't have a whole lot to feel good about when I got here, I destroyed everything, again, over and over. But it's like when you get here you get to build something, you get to fix something,” Sears says.
The new state-of-the-art facility will include new bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, and a workout room.
Blanchet House says this free program usually fills up quickly, so check their website to see if there is a waitlist.
