Time to vote for your favorite softball player in the Current-Argus Prep Hero of the Week

Every week during the high school sports season, the Current-Argus asks to vote on the Prep Hero of the Week Poll.

Readers can vote for their favorite softball player at www.currentargus.com. The poll closes at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday night; the winner will be announced online Thursday.

This week’s nominees:

Vianka Villa Carlsbad outfielder: She had three hits and a double against Roswell in the second game of a doubleheader last week.

Allyson Madrid Carlsbad: Last week against Roswell in the second game of a doubleheader, the freshman had four runs batted in. She also has a .778 fielding percentage.

Elisha Martinez Loving first base and pitcher: This year she has a .466 batting average with 27 hits, four home runs and 28 runs batted in.

Karyn Montoya Loving infielder and outfielder: The senior has a .389 batting average with 21 hits and seven runs batted in.

Kayden Apodaca Artesia pitcher: She threw a one-hit shutout against Roswell Goddard on April 16. She is 4-2 this season with an earned run average of 1.20.
