CARLE PLACE, NY. (1010 WINS) — A Long Island woman injured a police officer Monday after she crashed her aunt's car and ran through traffic, police said.

Nassau County police said Xiana Brave, 22, ran into the middle of traffic near 286 Glen Cove Road in Carle Place.

Officers attempted to intervene and help Brave, but she became "combative," and a "struggle ensued."

One officer tried to place her under arrest and was injured, police said.

Brave was eventually subdued, and police said they learned she had a domestic incident with her aunt.

The 22-year-old then stole her aunt's car, got into an accident and ran from the crash scene.

Brave is charged with assault, unlawful imprisonment, grand larceny, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and reckless driving.

The officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
