Oklahoma voters head to polls for midterms: governor, state questions
BLANCHARD — For almost 50 years, Bert Burnside has been a registered Republican, and when it came to voting in the 2026 midterm election, he decided to stick with the party he has been part of his entire adult life. "I vote straight party. ... I come for every election, and I just wanted to cast my vote," Burnside, 67, of Blanchard, told The Oklahoman. "Most important race was the (U.S.) Senate race for me. I want to see the Republicans retain the Senate." From Capitol Hill Library and Millwood Public Schools in Oklahoma City to Blanchard and Lindsay south of the OKC metropolitan area, The Oklahoman's journalists headed to the polls along with voters on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Although the Republican Party boasts the most registered voters in each of Oklahoma's 77 counties, many Republicans were reluctant to speak on the record about the midterm election . Tuesday's votes will determine the Sooner State's first new governor in eight years, the outcome of two state questions and lawmakers who will represent Oklahomans on the state and federal levels.
