CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Crews were on the scene of a house fire on North Park Street in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

It happened at 3:39 p.m. on Monday, June 5.

According to firefighters, neighbors reported a loud “boom.”

They said the fire started in the back of the house.

According to a release from the Cape Girardeau Fire Department, when firefighters arrived, there was heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the structure, and two residents opened a window on the side of the home and crawled out to safety.

The fire was extinguished in approximately 25 minutes, but the subsequent overhaul and investigation lasted around two hours.

The fire has been determined to be accidental.

According to Cape Girardeau Fire Chief Randy Morris, there were no reported injuries.
